I was lucky enough to get chosen to be a pattern tester and I loved every single part of this pattern. I made it with a jointed head and wings and chose the rooster option and in the style of Foghorn Leghorn for fun.
It had a few parts that required some hand sewing.
Over all I had so much fun and loved the result and the creation.

I adore Rena’s patterns!!! Her creations are always so unique and full of character. Best of all, they’re highly achievable for the home sewist and very customizable with all the options she includes. The bottleneck chicken is a hoot to create and I had so much fun watching my fabric change into this extraordinary critter. You will have plenty of resources…her tutorial is incredibly comprehensive and illustrated with clear photos plus video resources are available so learners of all styles can make their own crazy chicken companion! And, for sure, check out the tester galleries…you’ll be amazed at how many different chickens came out of one pattern!! Great gifts for any age (or gender!)!

This pattern was wonderful to work with and I now have several new skills that I’ve added to my wheelhouse the best of which were from the optional choices and there are so very many choices to be had here. Truly this is the way to make toys that are completely unique. The best reviewer however was my toddler granddaughter who actually squealed when she saw my rooster. She loves all things farm animal related. Her reaction is what toy making is all about for me. While working with this pattern I found it really built a sense of confidence in me as I would come to a technique I had never done, follow the directions and accomplish it and then be ready for the next challenge knowing that the directions I am following are clear, concise, easily understandable and lead to success. I didn’t have to resize the pattern either, that was HUGE for me, I hate resizing patterns, lol. My one inch guide came out of the printer at exactly one inch. I really cannot say anything less than glowing about this pattern, I truly enjoyed myself.

EGGS AND BACON!!!! This pattern is sooo much fun! You outright laugh when your chicken hatches. I had so much fun, it’s like real chickens… you can’t just have one! The are so many ways to utilize the pattern and make a whole flock of different birds!

The Bottleneck Chicken is such a super cute design, as always! 🐔 There are so many options and little details to play with, giving you loads of opportunities to get creative and make each chicken your own. I’ve already had extended family asking me to make chickens for their homes, so I’d say this pattern is definitely a hit!
